Ferment Your Tomatoes
Two Frays Brewery, Pittsburgh, PA
6:30 - 8:00 PM EST

Don’t let tomato season end!
Do you still have ripe tomatoes? More green tomatoes than you know what to do with? Maybe you’re just curious about what results fermentation can have with this lovely fruit!

Join Trevor Ring, fermentation educator and founder of Community Cultures, at Two Frays Brewery to explore the many ways to ferment tomatoes, from green and almost-ripe, to cherries and overly ripe. Participants will be introduced to the different methods of lacto-fermentation (dry salt, salt brines, mashes and pastes) to turn tomatoes into a variety of consistencies, products and flavors.

Walk away with 2 jars to ferment at home:

  • 1 quart of brined green tomatoes
  • 1 quart of dry salted tomatoes (turn into a sauce of your choice after fermentation)
    AND
  • 1 bag of inspiration, confidence, curiosity, and understanding that no one is getting botulism from these foods!
  • guides, recipes and handouts emailed to your inbox
  • permission to reach out to Trevor whenever you have questions, need to troubleshoot your ferments, or need a confidence boost in your process

All ingredients will be vegan, gluten-free and nut-free. No special equipment is required for this workshop. Come to class prepared to chop veggies! (Don’t wear your favorite shirt, unless you might want new memorable stains on it…)

Please notify Trevor – trevor@communitycultures.com – if you have any severe allergies to produce or spices.
